Patch Downloading Instructions

Download the sysex file above and uncompress it. To uncompress zipped files, use any of the commonly available zip utilities for the PC or ZipIt for the Mac.

After its uncompressed, use one of the many public domain or shareware sysex applications to transmit it to your gp100. If the previous sentence sounded like greek to you, here's some introductory material to help you understand MIDI and system exclusive (sysex) MIDI messages. To obtain a sysex application, check out the software section of Harmony Central or Synth Zone . I've used MidiEx successfully on the Mac. As always, on the Mac you have to deal with file types when using non-Mac files such as these patches. That means that with "MidiEx" you'll have to use "Open other..." in order to open the files.

When sending the sysex message, be sure your sysex transmitter is transmitting the same channel as your GP-100 is set to receive. The patch will show up in slot #150 on the GP-100 (or in a range of patches if you're downloading a bank). Here are the loading instructions:

  1. Press the UTILITY button twice to access the MIDI parameters.
  2. Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select MIDI Channel 1.
  3. Use the PARAMETER dial to display MIDI Bulk Load Waiting.
  4. Use the sysex utility software on your computer to transmit the patches to the gp100.
  5. Press the EXIT button when the transfer is complete.

Note that if you're already displaying the name of patch you're loading into the gp-100 at the time the message is sent, the display won't change until you reselect the patch using the front panel knob.
